McLean's Home - "Valley Dance" - Spanish Colonial

We are incredibly grateful to our God for PROVIDING abudance and giving us our most recent gift of building a home. We are eager to enjoy Him, each other, and friends and family in this new space. We also have incredible gratitude for the vision that our friend and architect, Kit Johnson invested. Kit created our initial concept named our plan, "Valley Dance" - and that name captures a vision of our four ladies dancing, singing, and playing in the valley on Mondonedo Cove.

After many months of planning and bidding, we selected Silverton Custom Homes to build our house. They connected us with an architect who detailed our design. We envision a Spanish Colonial-style home with as much "old world style" as possible. We enjoy outdoor living, so our exterior spaces include a large patio between the garage and kitchen and an incredible screened-in porch just off the living and dining rooms.

We aspire as much family time as possible, so our main living area is very open. Colin works from home, so his office is disconnected from children yet practically useful for his purposes. Our girls will sleep upstairs. In the gameroom, there will be a built-in sofa-like seat that will double as a guest bed (three twin mattresses make up the sofa seat). Two of our girls' bedrooms will share a very large closet that also will double as a laundry room. There will be three bedrooms upstairs. The plan at this point is for one room to serve as a homeschool classroom and the girls to share the other two rooms.

We have some other key areas for study spaces throughout the house - one is the space opposite the hall near the power bathroom. It'll serve as an artwork and project room. The space under the staircase will become a reading and math space with a couple of desks.

Our master bedroom and bathroom is a fantastic space. Our closet, too, will double as a closet and laundry room. So, all clothing will be in one space and no carrying clothes up and down stairs :) I really hope this works out.

We have a skilled team.  Grant Taylor started us off with Silverton, Ray Ocana with Rustico Tile and Stone is doing much of our interior work (Saltillo tile, Cantera stone, Talavera/Deco, and Copper products), Gabriel Solis is building custom steal doors and windows, and Joyce Coonrad and Dave Jackson are helping manage the overall project.

Building is incredibly involved. This process has taken much longer - and given us more gray hairs than we ever previously expected. But, we have lots of hope. We look forward to loving God, one another, family/friends, working, homeschooling, gardening, and playing together in our home. We hope, Lord willing, to move in by November 1st!
